“At the 7th annual Soweto Pride March, held in Meadowlands, Soweto, South Africa. The march is held in the location of the brutal murders of 2 lesbians 4 years ago. The goal of Soweto pride is to ensure that lesbians in the township no longer fall victim to homophobic attacks.”
Its amazing to see that people are fighting for the right to just be in an area where you could get raped or even killed for just being too open. we in western nations have a privilege that is not afforded to out brothers an sisters in Africa, the Middle East, and other places where homosexuality is illegal. I’m proud that they have the courage to be out and march and have a Pride. This is what our Pride parades should look like!! I encourage you too look through the rest of the photos in this photostream, they are really amazing from a photojournalistic stand point.
